"Two Boys and a Candle" ~ On my last evening in Bhaktapur (the third largest city in the Kathmandu Valley), I noticed these boys huddled around a candle while what felt like the entire population of that ancient city filled the streets lighting candles during one of the many celebrations of Dashain.

"Spinning Wheel" ~ I watched this woman work, spinning her wheel, for about 20 minutes before I decided to take her photograph. We often made eye contact during that period and she eventually got use to my presence. When I finally decided to shoot her photograph I had to stand on my ‘tippy toes’ to get her in the frame the way I wanted. I’m sure I looked rather silly standing like that but it was well worth it because just as I was pressing the shutter of my camera she broke out in laughter, something that probably never would have happened if I didn’t take the time to make the connection.
